Not finding what you need?

What are Birman Cats like?
Birman cats are a highly affectionate and loving breed. Weighing between 7-14 pounds and up to 18 inches in length, they are large, sturdy cats. Birmans have long, silky fur in a pointed pattern. Registered Birman breeders will have kittens for sale in frost, blue, chocolate, seal, red, cream, cinnamon, lilac, and fawn among other variations.
Birman cats are known to be easygoing and gentle, making them a great companion for families with children or dogs. When considering a Birman for your family, it’s important to note that given their build they can be prone to weight gain and need regular exercise. Birmans also prefer not to be alone, so a furry companion should be considered if your house is often empty.
FAQs when considering Birman Cats
How much do Birman Cats cost in Florida?
As a sought-after breed, Birman Cats for sale in Florida cost between $700 and $1,500. A cat’s price is based on its pedigree, coat quality, age, health and vaccination history. If an Birman Cat cat’s parents are show-winning, they can be even more expensive.
Are Birman cats good indoor cats?
Birman cats can make great indoor cats, as they are generally calm, affectionate, and well-behaved. They enjoy spending time with their owners and are not usually prone to destructive behaviors. However, like all cats, they still require plenty of mental and physical stimulation to stay happy and healthy, such as interactive toys, scratching posts, and climbing structures.
What should I ask to choose the right Birman Cat breeder?
While there are many people in Florida who claim to be ethical Birman Cat breeders, not all hold a standard that you can feel great about. Asking some relevant questions about their philosophy will ensure you avoid Birman Cat breeders that do this only for financial gain, not having the interests of the cats or you in mind. Make sure you ask about:
- Health history of the parents and vaccinations. They should have their first vaccinations by the time they're adopted.
- Whether they've bred their Birman Cats with other breeds (they should disclose this and it would make it not a purebred lien.
- Have the socialized the kitten among other kittens?
- Do they belong to a Florida Birman Cat breed club? You can ask for references from the club.
Why does it matter if I buy from a registered Birman Cat breeder?
When you buy from a registered Birman Cat breeder (with either their local Birman Cat club, governing body, or TICA/CFA), that ensures that a standard of care and expertise is enforced. You can ask them about a wide range of topics such as the Birman Cat’s genealogy, the right kitten for you, common health problems with Birman Cats to look out for. We offer additional registration through our Cat Kingpin Certified program as well, although it's not a replacement for other registrations.
